Getting to Masindi
The bus from Kampala to Masindi leaves at 7.30am from the main Post Office on Kampala Road, and costs 10,000 Ug Shillings, roughly US$4, and takes around 4 hours. However, you can get yourself down to the new taxi park by private taxi or 'boda boda' (motorbike) and ask for the 'matatu', (or public minibus/taxis) which leaves regularly throughout the day to Masindi. It will travel a little faster than a coach, (around 3-4 hours). Using either of these means will take you into the small town of Masindi, and you can take either
1) a private cab to the hotel at around 3,000 Ug Sh 2) a 'boda boda' (motorbike) at 1,000 Ug Sh 3) the back of a bicycle for a bargain 300 Sh. The later is by far the most enjoyable, yet the most unpractical if you happen to be inconvenienced by 2 heavy suitcases, a handbag, 2 children, a goat.....
