A Century of Stories

Where Uganda's Safari History Began

Built in 1923 by East African Railways & Harbours, Masindi Hotel welcomed the travellers, explorers and dreamers of the great safari age on their way to Murchison Falls, Congo and Sudan.

Ernest Hemingway recovered here after his 1954 plane crashes. Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn passed through in the days of The African Queen. A century on, the verandas, gardens and stories remain.
