The African Queen
Part of the original block built in 1923 — spacious rooms with adjoining bathrooms and space for a baby cot. Katharine Hepburn stayed in Room 3 and Humphrey Bogart in Room 5. Set up as Double or Twin, with a Twin/Triple in Room 7.
Hemingways
The wing with the most privacy, a stone's throw from the Hemingway Bar, with a lovely verandah overlooking the garden. Room 8 — the largest, with ensuite bath and separate toilet — is where Hemingway recuperated after his 1954 plane crashes.
Explorers
Built when Masindi Hotel was at its prime — in those days you booked two years in advance. Small, functional rooms with adjoining bathrooms; rooms 14 and 15 adjoin and combine into a family room, with six singles for solo travellers.
Birders
Peace and quiet overlooking the gardens. Spot the rare bird species at home in our trees — and expect a vervet monkey to peep through the window now and then. Small, comfortable ensuite rooms.
The Cottage
One bedroom, a living room and an adjoining bathroom with shower — a private retreat within the gardens.
The Backpackers House
Two bedrooms, a living room and kitchenette with an enclosed patio — perfect for groups and young families travelling together.
Plus our campsite on 6.5 acres of gardens beneath near-century-old trees, with hot showers and toilets for campers.
